Rocío CANO VALIÑO – born in Buenos Aires [Argentina] and based in Lyon [France] – Composer and interior designer. Rocío’s musical production is dedicated to instrumental, mixed and electroacoustic pieces. She is a member of the artistic committee of the Ensemble Orbis, which is based in Lyon and she co-founded. Rocío’s music was performed by ensembles such as: Proxima Centauri, HANATSUmirror, Paramirabo, Ensemble Ars Nova, Ensemble DME, Duo PARCOURS, Q-sión, among others… She has received various commissions and support from: Aide à l’écriture du Ministère de la Culture [FR]; Radio France [FR]; Festival Présences [FR]; FNArtes [AR]; Studio Césaré CNCM [FR]; GRAME CNCM [FR]; GRM [FR]; Ibermúsicas [AR-Latin America]; SACEM [FR]; OARA [FR]… Her works have been awarded in various international competitions. Rocío’s compositions have been selected and performed in diverses festivals around the world. 

Rocío has a Master and DNSPM degree in Contemporary Composition at the CNSMDL [France] where she studied with François Roux. She did an Erasmus at KUG [Austria] with Franck Bedrossian. In Argentina, she studied composition with Demian Rudel Rey. She has received scholarships such as: Nguyen Thien Dao 2023, Mozarteum Argentino Gisela Timmermann and she is winner of the Fondation d’entreprise Société Générale C’est vous l’avenir for the year 2024.

In 2017, the label Resterecords released her first monographic album “Tâches”. Rocío’s music is published by Babel Scores, Score Follower… La Lettre du Musicien published her “Portrait double vie” written by Antoine Pecqueur in the “Architecture” edition.

We would like to announce the result of the 48th Irino Prize, 2024.
The Selection Committee has been held on 10 November , 2024 at the NPO JML Yoshiro Irino Music Institute Tokyo.
Total of Entries:85 compositions, 20 countries
Award: 200,000 Japanese yen
Jury of this year: Mari TAKANO (Chair), Satoshi TANAKA, Takayuki RAI, Haruyuki SUZUKI, and Rica NARIMOTO
